THE SUCCESS STORY CONTINUES…

It’s been a hectic start to the new season for Basildon & Phoenix Swimming Club. Having been the top Essex swimming club for the last two years the pressure is on for that to continue.

With the announcement of the Essex and Regional talent camps, where the top swimmers in the region are selected to attend pool sessions as well as nutrition and technical talks, came the selection of six Basildon swimmers:- Olivia Church, Ruby Wheeler, Mason Allen, Arthur Bernans Rebecca Howell & Harrison Rider. This is a great achievement for these young swimmers and shows that the future of the club is in good hands.

The next step after this is Phase 2 of the Swim England National Pathway Programme where we are excited to announce that we have a further four 15 year old swimmers selected, these are Macy Lawrence, Ellie Wheeler, Liam Brennan and Mason Hunnisett after having impressed at the GB and Swim England Summer National Championships. They will attend camps in December and then again in March.

The first major competition of the year, The Essex Winter Swimming Championships, was held at the Basildon Sporting Village on 28th and 29th October. Basildon won an amazing 14 Gold medals, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals to walk away with the top club trophy with 414 points which was nearly 250 points ahead of the 2nd placed team.

The next major competition is the Swim England National Winter Championships in Sheffield (13th to 17th December), where Basildon have seven qualifiers :- Macy Lawrence, Vejune Petraityte, Ellie Wheeler, James Cooper, Mason Hunnisett, Sam Perks and Gus Veasey.

It looks like the season is off to a great start!
